Death Of The Album Artist

Hello All,
Catherine and I are in Vancouver enjoying a visit with our family before we embark with Young Galaxy on the first of many shows this year. As I was languishing with a mouthful of smoked salmon, I read this article from Drowned In Sound (an English music page in the style of Pitchfork) which I enjoyed very much and tend to agree with wholeheartedly.

See you soon!

Peripheral Visionaries Mix 2

Hello
Steve R. here again - just thought I'd bring in February with another mix for you all to enjoy. As I mentioned, I will be posting a mix monthly for the forseeable future. This month's installment features such tasty morsels as the heavily underrated Baxter Dury's 'Cocaine Man' from the 'Floorshow' album - The Wild Swans and The Sound, fantastic, lesser-known Liverpudlian counterparts to Echo & The Bunnymen - fellow Canadian Doug Randle's 'Coloured Plastics', from the bizarre and wonderful 'Songs For The New Industrial State' album from 1971 (re-issued recently on Light In The Attic Records) - Visage's masterful 'Fade To Grey' - D. Lissvik, one half of one of my favourite current Swedish bands, Studio - David Holmes, who put out one of my favourite albums last year, The Holy pictures - the also underrated Pale Saints from their amazing debut album 'The Comforts Of Madness', among others.. I hope you enjoy it. Here is the tracklist:

1. Primal Scream - Velocity Girl
2. The Wild Swans - Flowers Of England
3. Baxter Dury - Cocaine Man
4. Doug Randle - Coloured Plastics
5. Altered Images - I Could Be Happy
6. Visage - Fade To Grey (12" version)
7. Siouxsie and The Banshees - Painted Bird

Welcome To Peripheral Visionaries..

Hello All,
My Name is Stephen Ramsay, and I am a founding member of the band Young Galaxy based in Montreal, Canada. Welcome to our blog, Peripheral Visionaries. Along with the other members of the band, Catherine McCandless, Stephen Kamp and Max Henry, I will be making regular posts here which will include (but not be exclusive to) any experiences to do with the band we think are worth sharing, such as tour journals, photos, video, etc. We will also share items that inspire us in our daily lives: music, writings, photos, and art in general, interesting links, news, and maybe a few rants from time to time. Starting today, I intend to establish a monthly ritual of posting a 'mixtape' of sorts - which is essentially enough songs to fill a regular 80 minute cd of whatever I'm listening to at the time. Today I am posting a recent mix that I made for my friend Sean Michaels' birthday, who is founder of the wonderful music blog Said The Gramophone. Here is the tracklist:

1. Captain intro
2. Robert Wyatt - At Last I Am Free
3. Freur - Doot Doot
4. Ben Watt - Lucky One
5. Force Of Nature - Static
